The Best Stress Relief: Self-Compassion
"If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete."
~ Jack Kornfield
Sometimes your bottled up anger pairs up with the ongoing stress or the other way round and the situation it creates is sure as hell not pretty.
People say when life throws lemons at you, make lemonade, pass them on, blah blah blah.
I say, when you're in deep trouble, the only way to get out of there is to deal with it. The stress will keep triggering you every now and then putting you in situations you wouldn't wish on your enemy.
The only way to get out of it once and for all is to let it out, let it hurt you, let it break you down. If it makes you cry, cry. If it makes you scream, scream. If it makes you throw stuff around, throw it but don't let it control you by sitting in your mind and making all the decisions for you and clouding your judgement.
This mental trauma isn't something you are being especially served with, we all have it on our plate, in equal proportions, divided throughout our life.
Sometimes it's making your life miserable and sometimes mine. That doesn't make it my right to complain why is it happening to me and why is everyone around me happy or why is anybody else not burdened with the same pain.
Denial is never an option even if you're at war with yourself. To win that war, the only thing you can do is to own up the responsibility and deal with it. You have to get over the thought of making yourself suffer any kind of punishment. You are the only one who can make peace with your inner turmoil. Be compassionate. And compassion starts at home. If you don't forgive yourself, you'll never be able to forgive anyone else.
Life makes us suffer at times if we cruise through such moments and look forward to the light the day brings, that darkness that has crippled our mind can be fought and it can be defeated.
So, are you brave enough to forgive yourself?

This post is part of #1000Speak for Compassion movement for the month of May 2016. Last month over 1000 bloggers from all around the world spoke on Compassion,#1000Speak, to make a difference, however small. They spoke to affect positive change and to instill hope. To get the message out that the world still cares. Is it surprising then that it was a great success? This month, 1000 Voices Speak for 'Self-Compassion' and continue to work toward spreading Compassion.
