One Summer Night.
A man named Henry Armstrong had been buried but he was not dead.
Two medical students were looking for a corpse to dissect. The caretaker of the graveyard named Jess had a side job of selling cadavers. The two students asked him to dig the grave of a recently buried body. So Jess decided to dig the grave of Henry Armstrong. Armstrong heard noises while his grave was dug. When Jess lifted up and opened the casket, Henry Armstrong tranquilly sat up. The two students ran away and met in their medical college.
Next morning the students were still in shock, but they go into the dissection room and find that Jess had smashed Henry Armstrong's head with a spade and killed him, as he wanted his payment for the corpse who was really dead now and lying on the dissection table.
I stumbled upon this story today, which happened to be saved in my notes. I helped my sister with this, long time back.
What is the sense of sharing it here?
Here it is, apparently the first time i read this story, i laughed at it's strange end. Today, when i read it, i was sad about what had happened and to not miss the point, i was sad at the lack of humanity in us humans.
The world has become purely material, no benevolent feelings for our fellow humans (Let's just keep the point of animals aside).
Ignoring the girl being molested, teased..
Paying no attention to the boy who was drowning in the stream..
Watching an aged person carrying baggage and not helping..
And many more..!
Does putting a coin in the hands of a street beggar makes u human?
Does pouring downs buckets of milk on a stone makes u human?
Does organising a feast for saints every fortnight makes u human?
What makes us human is doing something that has no concerns with our self interest. Doing something selflessly that makes us happy. Ask yourself! Did u do anything in the recent days that would not result in a personal gain later on?
Do something that makes u feel a little more part of this world.
Flooding charitable institutions with a heavy cheque isn't what is required here. Spending a little time with those little kids is what will make u happy.
U all are sane enough to know what would bring that magnanimous smile on your face, so go, get it NOW! :)
